Q: How long is the course?

A: The course will take approximately two hours to complete.  You may stop and start as often as you like, and you will be returned each time to where you left off. We encourage you take the training in sections, as your schedule permits. We ask only that you complete the training within 30 days of starting at Columbia, or within 30 days if you are notified that you are due to refresh your training.

 

Q: How often do I have to take it?

A: Employees are required to take the training every three years. You will be notified when you are due to refresh your training.

 

Q: How will I know when I need to take it?

A: If you are due to take the course, you will receive an email automatically. Columbia has partnered with the company Lawroom to provide our online course. Because of this, the email letting you know that you are due to take the training will be from “Columbia University" <admin@lawroom.com>. A link to the training will be included in the body of the message.

 

Q: I am a supervisor. Do I take the same course as my staff?

A: Yes. There is only one course for both supervisors and staff.

 

Q. Does the course have audio?

A. Audio is used intermittently throughout the course. In some sections there will be no audio and you will be asked to read what is on the screen.

 

Q. I am visually and or hearing impaired. Can I access the course?

Q. How do I begin the course?

A. To begin the course click: https://el.lawroom.com/shib/columbia

You will be asked to enter your UNI and password. From there, you will be taken to your course landing page. 

Click on the course name, “Columbia Anti-Harassment and Title IX Training,” and the course will begin. 

Please note:

  • There is intermittent audio, so be sure to have your speakers on or your headphones plugged in.
  • You should consider taking the training over the course of a few sittings. You may stop and start as often as you wish, and the system will record where you left off. The “Menu” feature in the course will show you how far along you are.

When you are done with the course your completion is automatically recorded. However, you will have an opportunity to print out a certificate of completion at the end of the training if you wish.

 

Q. How do I print a certificate of completion?

A. Once you complete the course, log back on to LawRoom at https://el.lawroom.com/shib/columbia

You will notice that there is now a section called “Completed Courses.” Click on the "Completed Courses" tab. Next to the course name you will see an icon under "Certificates." Click on "Completion" to generate the certificate.
