General HR News: The Storm Within: Understanding Borderline Personality Disorder
On behalf of Counseling and Psychological Services and The Barnard/Columbia Personality Study, we want to share with faculty and staff a valuable opportunity to learn about Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), a condition that can affect adults at any age. A panel discussion, featuring Dr. Kathy Berenson of the Department of Psychology and Dr. Shirley Mathews of Counseling and Psychological Services at Health Services, will discuss the clinical perspectives and treatment of BPD, as well as have a dialogue with Amanda Wang, producer of RethinkBPD Documentary and Peer Organizer of NYC BPD Support Group.
Ms.
Wang will give a personal account of living with BPD. The disorder,
characterized by an inability to regulate emotions and affect, has a
serious impact on the lives of people who suffer from it and those who
are close to them, but recovery from BPD is possible.
The panel discussion is open to all members of the Columbia community:
Thursday, February 25
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Lerner Hall, Room C555
