SARs: CU Retirement Plans

As a participant in one of the retirement plans sponsored by Columbia University, you are entitled under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) to receive an annual summary of the financial status of the retirement plan in which you participate. The information is summarized in the Summary Annual Report (SAR) links below.

Also, you are entitled under ERISA to review the complete annual report of the retirement plan you participate in; these documents, known as Form 5500, are also linked below.

Annual Funding Notices for the CU Defined Benefit Retirement Plans:

In accordance with the Pension Protection Act of 2006, an Annual Funding Notice replaces the Summary Annual Reports sent previously for defined benefit retirement plans. The Notice summarizes certain information about the Plans including:

  • the Plan’s funded status
  • the value of the Plan’s assets and liabilities
  • a description of how the Plan’s assets are invested
  • a description of the benefit
